firefighter Posted April 14, 2013 #4 Posted April 14, 2013 Nice older 48th Fighter Bomber Wing.Very nice and desirable patch. They were stationed in France from 52-60.
F-111A Posted April 14, 2013 #5 Posted April 14, 2013 48th Fighter-Bomber Wing out of Chaumont AB, France. They flew F-84s until November 1953, then converted to F-86s.
Navybean Posted April 14, 2013 Author #6 Posted April 14, 2013 Thanks for the info, most of the pictures are of Europe, Paris, Rome, etc.. Couple of pics of F84's and B47's I believe.
Randy Posted April 14, 2013 #7 Posted April 14, 2013 This version was used very late 53 or early 54 for a couple years. Prior to that, the insignia was a flaming sword. Later versions were smaller and the F-86 wasn't as distinctive. About 1962 they switched to the sheild shaped version. The Skyblazers arcobatic team used one with 4 F-86s in it. Your patch is German made. Randy
veltro2 Posted December 11, 2019 #8 Posted December 11, 2019 I search a photos of original F-86 Skyblazers patch and is dimensions thanks
Randy Posted December 11, 2019 #9 Posted December 11, 2019 Here's mine. Used late in the F-86 era. The first version was made like the patch above. This one is applied and embroidered on felt. Randy
Randy Posted December 12, 2019 #13 Posted December 12, 2019 Sorry, I don't give out exact dimensions anymore due to several folks that have to be dishonest and try their level best to reproduce and sell things. I hope you understand. It's bigger than normal. As far as price, they can hit $400-500 if they even surface. Maybe more if a couple guys really want it I guess. I know of 3 total and I've been doing this 30 years. Randy
veltro2 Posted December 12, 2019 #14 Posted December 12, 2019 Sorry I understand and support your position, Inside of a lot of Patches I found one of first type ( different of your) I think is a copy but I don't know if has a real dimension or too little, about 4.5" in case contact me in discrete
Randy Posted December 12, 2019 #15 Posted December 12, 2019 No problem. I will say real ones of both versions are larger than that. Randy
