Jim Baker Posted March 20, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 20, 2008 OK Erwin, here you go. We will include all TD's, but for you, we'll start with the Hellcat. Not in combat, but these two shots are a must.

Jim Baker Posted March 20, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted March 20, 2008 As I said in an earlier thread, I scour the net looking for nice shots of armor. Once in a while I will run across different shots of the same subject. Here is another example of that. I liked this shot because it's difficult to find nice photos of these vehicles firing their weapons in action. Later, I came across this shot of the same vehicle, and again, firing it's gun. Jim Baker Posted March 20, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted March 20, 2008 Then recently I found this fun photo of the same vehicle and it's crew. Apparently they are getting ready for a nice dinner. I really like this one.

Jim Baker Posted March 20, 2008 Author Share #12 Posted March 20, 2008 Hey Erwin, Hope you can use some of these. The last one you showed was certainly shot up. Guess the Germans weren't taking any chances.
Jeeper704 Posted March 20, 2008 Share #13 Posted March 20, 2008 Thanks for posting them, Jim. I appreciate it. Yeah, the Germans knew very well that an M-18 in the hands of an experienced crew was a dangerous weapon. Harry Traynor - my best Veteran friend - his M-18 was knocked out by 2 Panthers, killing most of his crew and severely wounding him. They ambushed his TD. "Blondie" (name of the M-18) sure had her share of kills before that black day (February 9, 1945). Erwin

Jeeper704 Posted March 20, 2008 Share #15 Posted March 20, 2008 No, his M-18 was hit in the rear. A Luxembourg guy did find pieces of "Blondie" and some personal belongings on the site though. And parts of one Panther. Several M-18s were lost to enemy (panzer) fire that day. Erwin
Charlie Flick Posted March 21, 2008 Share #16 Posted March 21, 2008 Jim and Erwin: OK, I can't let you guys have all the fun. Here is a pic you might enjoy. These are M-18s at the Buick assembly plant. Regards, Charlie Flick

Jim Baker Posted March 21, 2008 Author Share #22 Posted March 21, 2008 Hi Erwin, You just answered a question for me. I've had the last photo you posted for some time and always wondered what happened to that M-36. I was thinking it had been hit by a tank owing to it's disheveled look. Now with that second photo I can see it was actually laying on it's side. Thanks!

Glad to be of help, Jim.I got some nice detailed color shots of an M-18 too, showing interior etc.But they were taken a few years ago, so not WWII or combat related.Erwin
