ww2collector Posted April 10, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2013 Hi all,I have just received a greatcoat found in a barn in france. It is smelly and not cleaned. There is some writing which appears tobe a name and ASN but it is very hard to read. Any ideas onhow to make it more readable?ThanksEric
EasyRed1944 Posted April 11, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 11, 2013 Play with the light and try to make it readable that way , otherwise i have no clue... Sometimes in a different light you are able to see more. If you have his last name, it might make it easier to research him eventhough there might be just a few numbers of his ASN readable. Baron3-6 Posted April 12, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 12, 2013 Try a negative (Reverse colors) of the image, I believe MS Paint can do this or most scanning software. The S/N looks like 334368??
AAF_Collection Posted April 12, 2013 Share #4 Posted April 12, 2013 A blacklight can sometimes help as well. I'd be a little concerned about just what that reddish-brown stain is,blood?. Matt.
ww2collector Posted April 16, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted April 16, 2013 I thought it was rust but not sure. Now i am indeed concerned can i test this?
AAF_Collection Posted April 18, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 18, 2013 I don't know if there is a non-destructive test you can carry out for blood. It doesn't look like rust to me,but then old blood stains tend to appear darker, almost brown. Matt.
