usaaf93 Posted April 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 6, 2013 Hello Is it possible to identify which bomb squadron flew on these mission ? - mission 1 : Aachen, Germany 16/11/1944 (light flak) - mission 2 : Merseburg/Osnabuch 21/11/1944 (6 holes in plane, heavy flak) - mission 3 : Merseburg/ germany 30/11/1944 (10 holes in plane, very heavy flak) - mission 4 : Koblenz, germany 02/12/1944 - mission 5 : Giessen ? germany 04/12/1944 (attacked by 3 fighters) - mission 6 : Berlin, Germany Big B 05/12/1944 (fighters, flak rough mission) - mission 7 : Mainz , germany 18/12/1944 (fighters) - mission 8 : Bilbis Kaiserslautern 24/12/1944 (light flak) - mission 9 : Kaiserslautern, germany 25 /12 /1944 (light flak, 2 holes in plane) - mission 10 : Fulda, Germany 27/12/1944 (light flak) These information are written on bomb pins paper. will m. Posted April 23, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 23, 2013 Have you tried looking up the individual dates on the internet.......I did look at the first date and came up with the 100th BG. What I could not ascertain is if more than on Group made the mission....on the 30 November mission I think nearly 600 aircraft were launched at various target. One of those assigned to Merseburg was the 398BG. If you continue looking at each mission you may be able to find the Group thru elimination. This was all a quick lool!!!! On the 100th BG website it indicates the December 2 mission was recalled due to weather, but they might have dropped the bombs in the channel. They should have left the pins in if they did though.
