"remembering pearl harbour" plastic pin ?

has anyone come across one of these before ??? is it genuine or not ?? iy is made of a plastic type material that looks painted , its about an inch long

Carl,

 

Here is the one I own. Mine is made of metal. I'm not sure if these were made in a plastic material during the WWII era or not. Possibly someone else could chime in.

It's not a rare item, as mentioned they go for about $15. They were made from both plastic and pot metal. Great home front patriotic item.

thanks guys !!!! the book i was looking at which said it was rare , was pre "internet" !! so over here in the uk i suppose, at the time it was a rare' ish piece ???

Pre Ebay, these pins in metal would sell for anywhere up to $50. It seems like lots of them must have been squirreled away as I now see them for $10. to $15. Ebay exposure lowered the price of many items over the years.
