GatorDoc Posted March 28, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2013 Hey guys, I picked this up the other day from a flea market in West By God Virginia. The seller told me he had purchased it from a WWII vet of the Air Corp who stated that the used it to calibrate bomb sites on bombers and cannons on fighter planes. This this is really heavy, really well made, and in great condition. So what do you think its worth? GatorDoc
GatorDoc Posted March 28, 2013 Author Share #2 Posted March 28, 2013 More pics. Its brass and painted brass construction. Appears to be a lot like a telescope with two lenses. Very heavy.
hawkdriver Posted March 29, 2013 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2013 It is a very specific item that a very few individuals would have a real reason to have it. Especially since colimating gun sights or bomb sights isn't really necessary for display type aircraft. Unless it was something that anyone was needing to fill a collection hole, you probably won't find a lot of interest in it, especially if it is really heavy, shipping will eat into the value. It's one of those things that if you put it up on eBay auction, you would take a chance that it might go for little or nothing, but then out of the blue, someone might drive it up to incredible prices. I had a intelligence officer's stereoscope and thought it was something cool, it took four months and it sold for about a third of what I thought it should. Sorry I can't be more specific.
