USMC-RECON0321

Hello all!

I’m starting this thread to see if the USMF members can put together a complete:

WWI 26th Division online helmet collection??

So if you have one or know of someone else who does, let’s get them posted here. If complete enough, maybe we can get it pinned as a reference.

I will start with a cheat sheet of the main insignias known, but if you have other variations, trench art ones etc. post them. But please, let’s keep this to 26th Division marked WWI helmets only!

Thanks Troy

Back is painted with "Delia-Mae" possibly nickname of the soldiers artillery piece or a girlfriend, wife, Mother etc.?

These next five are some of the more obscure ones, and are courtesy of Scott Kraska/Bay State Militaria.

Wow, these are great! Never seen some of these. Is there a complete diagram of all known 26th Div Insignias?

Here is what we've checked off so far from the sheet above;

I'll update as we get them.

Also, just because one has been posted already, doesn't mean you can't post yours. It's nice to see the similarities and differences in the same unit markings!

Here is my 26th Division HQ helmet ID'd to Captain the Reverend Michael J.O'Conner.He was first the 101st Infantry Chaplain and then the Division Chaplain. It has a full liner and chinstrap. I also have his 1926 uniform with tunic, pants, piped overseas cap and Victory medal. I will post the group later.
