B-24 "Michigan" what Group?

Trying to help friend find out what Bombardment "Group" this aircraft was with , he has no info other than name and it was a B-24 , I know this is very little to go on , but am hoping some of the "sleuths" here on the USMF can help , much thanks !!!!!!!!!!! Johnny

There is a well known photo of a B-24 named "Michigan", with pretty elaborate, college football theamed nose art. The planes serial number was 44-40428 and she was a B-24j-161-CO that flew with the 43rd Bombardment Group, 5th Air Force in the Pacific. You might check with www.b24bestweb.com (if it's still an active site), and see what information they may have on the plane.

Thanks Lee, I had forgotten about that site , and yes there's a photo of the aircraft there with it's nose art , I told my friend about it and am waiting to see if this is the one he's looking for , have a great day and Thanks again !Johnny
