Once again a 82nd PTC, this time in 1967 by Major Geo G.Layman.

Forever stumped as to why these 82nd Abn Div PTC are worn, like in several of the other photos from the 82nd in this topic, and not the duly authorized one for Non Color Bearing Units.

Here we see different PTCs on a this IKE, this is from a post member sgtdorango made on a uniform he acquired a little over four years ago, there was uncertainty on why the First Army ones are there, and in the wrong place. At any rate, shows original 90th Inf Div PTC with a interestingly modfied First Army PTCs, note the "Trenched" portion, so far no explanation was found as to why this pair is like that.

One AC Cuff triangles again this time on a cap. Seeing that the piping is Red, looks a slightly faded Red right, maybe just added to cap then. In any event another nice view this odd one, considering that these patches where not unit patches.

The 2nd Armored Division again, here being worn by one Harold Florano, Private, Inf. Awarded SS for attempt to capture the Adolf Hitler Brücke.

Florano, Harold , USA - Awarded: SS - World War II

Florano was I believe a member of CCB 2nd Armd Div, that means 2nd Battalion 41st Armored Infantry Regiment.

A couple of more from the 2nd Armored Division, this time the first sergeant of the 502nd Administration Company around 1969/1970.

First photo shows him wearing the approved DUI for non-color bearing units of the division on green leadership tabs on his field jacket with full color rank insignia and divisional SSI worn on the sleeve rather than chest which seemed to be the standard practice among armored units.

Next photo shows the same first sergeant now wearing subdued pin on rank insignia and divisional SSI above his pocket on his fatigue shirt with a PTC DUI on his cap.

BILL THE PATCH

I was thinking same thing, it would look better. But I don't think they made right and left facing di's.

Right, like we know several official regimental unit crests were made Dexter and Sinister facing, IE 31st Infantry, 8th Cavalry to name a couple, perhaps they just didn't bother with the PTC type.

Screen shots from the 1940 Warner Brothers produced Army recruiting film "Service With The Colors" showing members of the 3rd Infantry Division wearing the patch type crest. I think most of the individuals in this film were actually actors and not soldiers but the film was made with Army cooperation and I'm sure most of the soldiers in the background were real soldiers.

It does look like it. But he is an actor and not actually a real soldier. As far as I can tell, the leads in this film are all actors but I would bet the extras are real soldiers.

I did a little research and the sergeant is none other than Robert Armstrong who played Carl Denham in the original "King Kong" and "Son Of Kong". IMDB.com shows that he played Sgt. Clicker in this short and Wikipedia says he served in the Army in World War I.

1st Cav Div PTC, Japan circa 1955-56. Believe this guy is a unit reenlistment NCO, even though he's wearing a Recruiting Service brassard with Recruiting poster on the wall. Meeks was also a one time Ranger in Korea, forgot what company and the caption of CSM will of course be most incorrect.
