.50 Headstamps

OK, Gary. I'll bite.

 

I think it is unusual for the headstamp to provide the caliber marking. WW2 USGI cartridges usually only have the manufacturing facility code and a one or two digit date. In my experience a caliber marking is usually seen only on civilian ammo.

 

How'd I do?

Hey Charley, you've got it! It is extremely rare to find US military ammo with the headstamp marked with caliber. Does anyone else have some they'd like to share?
