It was a very stiff flak vest you could wear instead of the m1952/A  or the 1955. Heli crews wore them alot before the invention of the chicken plate

Yeah that's what I posted the 50s Navy/Marine Corp Aviator Flak Jacket. We see what the problem was, you spelled Buaer as Bauer in your reply you'll note, thus my bewilderment 887464998_emoticonsmile.png.e47c935a18d80c0e02686d9fb8e4df32.png

No Problemo, happens to us all, to me especially, and that's without using an auto correct , like blabbering on and on about one army division while the whole time I read the division and sub unit wrong, till I finally released I got the units mixed up 685451777_emoticonlaugh.png.49058f641d4b2c3f4db21e0a553c7ca1.png.

And this Boot here, think his name is Berhard Winkle, a German American??? Taken sometime in 1974 at either Geiger or Pendleton.

Excellent photos Patches, thank you for sharing! You only helped encourage me to find one and I landed it today. Unissued 1969 identical to the ones posted at the beginning of this thread in 2013. I dug through about 80 ERDL covers and couldn't believe that I found this one '69. I'll post a separate thread comparing the 6 different ERDL patterns that I have from 1969-1980.
