Sabrejet Posted March 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2013 An American collector buddy of mine forwarded me the link below. It's an incredible photographic archive of US military aviation. Many of the images once graced the pages of "LIFE" magazine. The quality is remarkable, particularly the Kodachrome transparencies which still look so fresh and vibrant! Here's a sample. Sabrejet Posted March 1, 2013 Author Share #12 Posted March 1, 2013 The Bell Airacuda, as in post # 3 can be seen, albeit fleetingly, here! Apparently they did build enough of them to equip a squadron, but in practice the design was found to be flawed so it was soon taken out of service. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNXADjmBhAc

Sabrejet Posted March 2, 2013 Author Share #21 Posted March 2, 2013 Awesome footage! Thanks for that John. I can't imagine what it must have been like inside those B-25s with the 75mm and all those 50s simultaneously blasting away...plus the vibrations from the motors!!
