mvmhm Posted February 12, 2013 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2013 This Japanese bugle is part of a grouping that's being donated this week...the rest will be here Thursday, and covers WWII to Vietnam, for a son, his father, and his uncle (I'll post everything once it's in-hand). This was brought back by his uncle, who served in the 147th Infantry Regiment (Separate) during the battle for Guadalcanal. Here's PFC Ora L. Howell and his discharge doco: Mark sends Mark Conrad, MSgt, USAF (Ret) "Poor is the nation that has no Heroes...shameful is the one having them that forgets." mvmhm Posted February 12, 2013 Author Share #2 Posted February 12, 2013 ..and the bugle and a close-up of the markings on the mouth piece. His daughter said she can't recall it ever having an cords/tassels, and the patina is even so I assume it never had them. There's a few very minor dingers, but my daughter (a music major who can play anything she picks up) played it with no problem. Also, the patina is much darker than it appears in the picture....
