hirsca Posted February 7, 2013 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2013 I picked this up today at an estate sale. R.M.CO. 1942. Khaki. Clinched steel keepers and steel tab end. Buckle, snap and grommets are brass. Is this legit? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Al.
DeuceGI Posted February 8, 2013 Share #2 Posted February 8, 2013 It looks like a very nice original belt. What are your concerns? Congrats on the find! Tim
hirsca Posted February 8, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted February 8, 2013 It looks like a very nice original belt. What are your concerns? Congrats on the find! Tim Thanks DeuceGI. My concerns were about the steel keepers as opposed to brass and that the tab end was steel also. Came from the estate of a WW2 Navy pilot. Also, I've lost my link to a site that had a list of WW2 manufacturers of web gear. This particular list showed names, what they made, approximately how many and what periods they made them. If anyone has that, I sure would appreciate a link to it. Thanks again, al.

Marchville1918 Posted February 8, 2013 Share #7 Posted February 8, 2013 It looks fine. If you think about it the steel hook is integral to the belt as is the half of the brass buckle that is stitched to the belt. I don't think it is unusual to have these things mixed. Certainly the cloth used in web gear is often mixed between khaki and OD in the same item.
