Ricardo Posted February 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2013 Hi, Some helmets that caught my collection came from the United States. Unfortunately they are not identified, but are certainly captured pieces. Note that the SNLF troops helmet have a cut cloth chinstrap (most likely taken from soldiers killed or wounded). The inscription "France 1944" of the German helmet is quite war souvenir from Normandy. Regards, Ricardo. #1 - Japanese SNLF Troops Helmet:
Ricardo Posted February 6, 2013 Author Share #2 Posted February 6, 2013 # 2 - Japanese IJA Type 90 Combat Helmet - Very small shrapnel (splinter of a grenade or mortar) entry point on the side and almost out in the rim. It has the japanese soldier name and several bloodstains inside: I'll take more pictures of the helmet because I not found on my computer now... Bob Hudson Posted February 8, 2013 Share #18 Posted February 8, 2013 A gentle reminder that we'd like to keep this SPOILS OF WAR section limited to sharing things that we know were brought home by a particular US vet and not as a place to show our whole Japanese and TR collections even though the assumption is correct: most of that likely was brought home by a US GI. Just use s little discretion. thanks
Ricardo Posted February 8, 2013 Author Share #19 Posted February 8, 2013 Understood, Bob! I tried to separate some of my WW2 pieces to illustrate the topic in question, but I will only confine the identified parts linked to U.S. veterans. Thank you! Ricardo.
