Iverson - USS LST-668* USS LST-668* Laid down, 6 March 1944, at American Bridge Co., Ambridge, PA. Launched, 30 April 1944 Commissioned USS LST-668, 23 May 1944, Lt. Milford E. Clark USNR in command During World War II USS LST-668 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, as LST Flotilla Eight (CAPT. E. Watts USN), Group 22 - Flagship, (CDR. E.H. Pope USN), and participated in the following campaigns: Western New Guinea operation Morotai landings, September 1944 Leyte operation Leyte landings, October and November 1944 Luzon operation Mindanao Island landings, April and May 1945 Okinawa Gunto operation Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, June 1945 Decommissioned, 24 June 1946 Struck from the Naval Register, 31 July 1946 Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 26 May 1947, to Bethlehem Steel Co., Bethlehem, PA.
