Jean-Loup Posted January 8, 2018 Share #26 Posted January 8, 2018 The train station in Alamein is still there and has not been destroyed. However a little bird told me that some BBC journalists who were over there for the 60th anniversary in 2002 paid a local Bedu to steal the El Alamein train station sign for them. While they were at it they also paid him to tell them on camera a tale of woe about how one of his relatives had been maimed by a mine - all made up of course - to make their program more exciting. So much for journalistic ethics. http://autopsyofabattle.blogspot.com/ : my book about the paratroopers of the 509th, 517th, 551st and 1st SSF during Operation Dragoon, the invasion of southern France. Oral history and battlefield archeology.
