4STARCHRIS Posted January 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2007 This is an original ribbon bar and bullion three stars made for Gen Pershing. However, as we all know he was promoted through the rank. Thus making this the only set of ltg stars for General Pershing. Note the original, no longer used Indian War ribbon. The ribbon bar is actually off of one of Pershing uniform. All original. Well documented.
USMCR79 Posted January 14, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2007 Looks like a set that was made post 1916 but before 1918 (He was issued Cuban Occupation No. 14 in November 1915), The older all red ribbon for the Indian Wars was changed in 1917 or 18 because it confused the French who thought it was the Legion of Honor. 4STARCHRIS Posted January 16, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted January 16, 2007 Thanks for your reply and discussion on the Pershing display. This hangs in my office for all the patients to enjoy. I love displaying these great historical items in the office. Over 60 people a day see them. 99% are surprised when they walk in the office and find these here. They have been on disply for over 15 years.
