Civil War patch pictured in advertisement

This ad is from a 1996 issue of Civil War Times, does anyone know what the red maltese cross on the green jacket is?

It is a 1st Division 5th Corps badge.

its not green, but a sun faded overcoat, they were of blue kersey color , between bad lighting and 150 years of fading, it looks green

This is a civil war overcoat, and shows the color that it should be.

Thanks for the ID on the patch and I had a hunch the coat wasn't supposed to be green. The ad caught my eye because I have a similar patch in my collection, scans of the front (top) & back (bottom) are attached. The patch is about 2 inches across. Let me know what you think.

nice badge, the only problem, the Knights of Templar also use a red cross like this, A lot of times you see those Knights badges being sold as 1st Div 5th Corps badges. The good news I have have not seen a Knights badge like this one before. Maybe someone else in here has or has not. Civil War Corps badges can be tricky the simple ones have been remade for Living History units, way back in the 60's and have 50 years age to them now.
