Brian Keith Posted March 6, 2008 #1 Posted March 6, 2008 According the Bluejacket's manual of 1918, the dungaree uniform was a special working uniform issued to a limited few sailors and worn only "while they are actually employed at work that would damage the white uniform". "Dungarees shall not be worn nor had in possession by men other than those specified." Sailors specified to wear the dungaree suit included, engineer and dynamo-room force, gunners mates, turret captains, electricians, mechanics, strikers in turrets, those "in the care of machinery below decks" and crews of submarine vessels on duty on board their submarines. Original owner was Seaman 2nd Class, Freddie R. Stults of Bryant, IN. He served aboard the USS Agamennon and the USS Seatia, both transports during WW I. The Agamennon was a confiscated German liner and I haven't found out much about the Seatia yet but I think it was sunk while Stults was aboard. BKW
