Parka-Liner Posted February 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2013 Hi Everyone, I've recently acquired an N-3B parka, which i'd like to have dry cleaned. I'm also having the real fur on the hood professionally replaced and I thought I'd have the parka cleaned before the new fur is attached. The dry cleaners I went to were rather dubious about the "felt" liner of the parka hood, thinking that it may be damaged in the cleaning process. I didn't want to force the issue and thought I might ask other forum members if anyone had had such a parka cleaned and if there were any problems. Thanks in advance for any replies
Parka-Liner Posted February 14, 2013 Author Share #2 Posted February 14, 2013 Found a cleaner willing to do it and received the parka back clean and undamaged. Even the USAF stencil on the shoulder looked unfaded. The nylon material of the shell was perhaps slightly stiffer...but I expect it will regain its flexibility. Felt in the hood was also perfectly fine.
PvtTamura Posted February 14, 2013 Share #3 Posted February 14, 2013 Wouldn't have changed the fur, and would have done a "DIY" dry cleaning. Glad it worked out. just my .02.
