Guest ah3guam Posted January 31, 2013 #1 Posted January 31, 2013 http://www.nps.gov/wapa War in the Pacific National Historical Park on the island of Guam has recently opened a new exhibit hall at the T. Stell Newman Visitor Center near the front gate of Naval Base Guam. The museum exhibits are the culmination of nearly four years of design, fabrication, and research. A central feature of the museum is the large scale raised topographic map of the island of Guam that uses lasers to show troops movements, a triptch video display, and sound to take viewers through the Battle of Guam. Multiple media stations allow visitors to delve deeper into topics through touch screen technology. The same touch screen technology is utilized in the timeline portion of the museum. The museum's display panels utilize English, Japanese, and Chamorro (the indigenous language of the Mariana Islands) to share the stories of the center. Likewise, all media stations and the timeline are in English and Japanese. There are systems in place for the visual and hearing impaired and the entire facility is handicap accessible. Feel free to visit us if you are on Guam!
