This is a 2019 SOS purchase of mine

It also came with a large photo album of Pensacola NAS from 1919 with lots of HS-1 shots.

The Wings are early Robbins Naval Aviator wings with the "European" style hallmarks on one side and "sterling" on the other with a Tiffany style catch.

If you compare these wings with the ones on the photo in his Naval Aviator ID book, they appear to be the same ones.

Naval Aviation Pilot and Naval Aviator ID books to an enlisted pilot, later officer who served with Torpedo Squadron 8 from 1940-1942. He missed the Battle of Midway , but saw lots of action during the battle for Guadalcanal in 1942.

The certificate above is not WWII era. They do show though that these ID books were issued well after the war. I remember Dad telling me he showed it to gate sentries for a number of years.

Hi,

I finally found a WW2 certificate for my small collection and purchased this online today.....

I hope that someone might be able to help with some information about Ens. Grover F. Bias, Naval Aviator No. 9667.

Here is a US Naval Aviator ID Book and Certificate to Major John S. Bathurst, U.S.M.C.R., VMSB-236. Bathurst flew 27 missions during three tours of duty against Japanese targets and is credited with destroying three Japanese Coastal guns.

Virgil Stuart Deitrick, Jr. was born in Virginia in 1912. He was designated Naval Aviator 4947 on 19 October 1936 and commissioned on 1 November 1936.  Prior to World War II, he served on the USS Lexington with VS-3B (1937) and VS-2 (1938). He died in 1951 but I have not yet found the cause of death.

The collection includes a pinback H-H  Imperial wing badge stamped "R.G.P." behind the shield and "1/40 10K R.G.P." behind the right wing.

KASTAUFFER

1940 dated certificate to a Naval Academy graduate who served with VPB-105 during WWII hunting German subs.

His ID book is covered with muddy sand . I have all of his material and am assuming he may have been in an accident at some point that caused it to get like this. None of his other material is in this kind of condition so I don’t think it was in a house during a flood.

Since this thread has not had any attention for a while, I thought I would try to breathe some life back into it.

Here are a few accusations from the last couple of years.
