An In Country novelty type ACU 1st MAR Div with IRAQ on the numeral One, not sure if is a attachment sort of wear, as in his unit was attachend to the 1st MAR Div, or this guy, this Staff Sergeant was in the Marines and reenlisted in the Army.

Some army units fell under the command of Marine units and would wear their patch as a combat patch.  There are authorization letters floating around for this.  Also, you would have Marines go over to the Army and then wear their Marine patch as a combat patch.  It was a gray area, but usually toleraged.

To answer your question on this top, it more than likely relates to service in the Second Battle of Fallujah where elements of 1ID were sent down to help the Marines.

Couple more USMC patches being worn by various members of HHC 1-194 Combined Arms Battalion, 34th Infantry Division.

First photo up is a I Marine Expeditionary Force (1MEF)

Second photo is of the battalion commander at the time LTC Melton, and he is wearing a II Marine Expeditionary Force (2MEF) patch.

Unauthorized variant of the 187th Regimental Combat Team SSI worn by a member of the 11th Airborne Division. For comparison, I found the second photo which is listed on e-Bay as a reproduction.

Not actually worn, but still interesting. Tank Destroyer patch on a shirt at a local surplus store. Stains on the shirt, just wasn't feeling to purchase it today .

Group of soldiers receiving the Medal of Honor at the White House. Since it's President Johnson, this has to be before January 1969. The officer third from right seems to be wearing a 1st Armored Division combat patch. This may be from WWII, but that would mean he has been in the Army 20+ years. I can't tell his rank but he doesn't look that old. I'm thinking he's wearing the 1st as his combat patch for service in Vietnam with the 1st Squadron 1st Cavalry.

This is James Allen Taylor, he's getting the MOH at this time. Either a 11E Tanker or an 11D Recon, he was Exec of Troop B, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment attached to the  Americal Division.

One last one for now: can't remember the insignia on the left at the moment, but the guy on the right seems to be wearing one of the Marine Air Wing patches. Headquarters, 3rd BN, 166th Infantry Regiment, 1954.

The GI on the left is wearing "Ex-Navy".

Interesting 193rd Infantry Brigade combat patch being worn on this BDU I obtained directly from the officer who wore it. He was one of the vehicle commanders in Team Armor, 3-73rd Armor which was assigned to the 193rd between 14 Nov and 3 January 1989.

Current listing on FB marketplace. 1950's -early 1960's US Army officers tan uniform with a generic Navy service patch on right shoulder. These particular patches worn like this have been posted before. I can't pin point the left shoulder patch. Is it an obsolete National Guard patch?
