MasonK Posted January 22, 2013 Author Share #26 Posted January 22, 2013 @ ww2relichunter - thanks for the kind words! @ jgawne - On other forums I've seen quite a few collectors who prefer uniform removed insignia. It's definitely a popular sub-genre of militaria collecting.
Timberwolf Posted January 23, 2013 Share #27 Posted January 23, 2013 Nice stuff! I do prefer the patches cut from uniforms. Just something that makes it a little extra special. My only two are from the same vet.

My only two are from the same vet. Thanks, Timberwolf! While I would prefer to have the entire field cap attached to insignia , understandably soliders were limited in what they could carry with them. All of items when I received them were in the two cannisters, so I imagine Captain Bogert used these to carry his spoils. His daughter also mentioned that he brought back a plate and other dinnerware from the Berghof (Hitler's residence). These items, however, went to her brother and the whereabouts now are unknown. Patriot12 Posted January 25, 2013 Share #29 Posted January 25, 2013 Nice grouping. I really like the insignia cut from the hats.
