Bones Posted January 22, 2013 #1 Posted January 22, 2013 I was told by the widow that this vet was with the 45th ID, 180th Infantry regiment when they came across the Dauchau concentration camp. These items were from a slave factory that made this insignia.
Bones Posted January 22, 2013 Author #3 Posted January 22, 2013 Close up of items. Told they is alot of SS officers items.
Bones Posted January 22, 2013 Author #4 Posted January 22, 2013 I think this is a Munich newspaper. It shows British paratroopers being led off to POW pens. It is dated July 6, 1944 so these are D Day POWs.
plick27 Posted January 22, 2013 #6 Posted January 22, 2013 Very nice! Do you know what company in the 180th?
Bob Hudson Posted January 22, 2013 #7 Posted January 22, 2013 That photo of the good private's uniform towering over these relics is a classic example of spoils of war. The guys who wore that insignia thought it was going to be a symbol of dominance for a thousand years.... the private and his buddies showed him how wrong they were!
Normandy1944 Posted January 22, 2013 #9 Posted January 22, 2013 This is really an awesome bringback. Do you know how much people want to pay for this insignia? In the Netherlands, one ss collar tab is over $400....
tsakers85 Posted January 22, 2013 #10 Posted January 22, 2013 Some of the Spoils of War at the 45th ID Museum are just amazing!
Bones Posted January 22, 2013 Author #11 Posted January 22, 2013 Thanks for the comments. I do not know what company he was with. Not much paperwork in the grouping. The family kept his medals which is the way it should be.
PaulR Posted April 7, 2013 #12 Posted April 7, 2013 Nice lot of items, ranging from the SS, to Fire Police, to German Veterans Association stuff.
ww2relichunter Posted April 7, 2013 #13 Posted April 7, 2013 Wow amazing bring backs they look great and are in great shape also many rare pieces their !
RANDALL 1953 Posted May 7, 2013 #14 Posted May 7, 2013 Best of the bunch is the circular SS officers buckle in aluminum. That would bring in a pretty penny.
USCapturephotos Posted July 30, 2013 #15 Posted July 30, 2013 Great find! I love reading the accounts of members of the US 42nd Division entering Dachau from one side and 45th vets coming in from the other. Paul
HeadOfSteel Posted August 22, 2013 #16 Posted August 22, 2013 Amazing souvenirs! Boy would I love to have those in my collection.
