Found this metal (pin?) can someone please help identify?

These went on helmets/helmet liners in the 1950s and 60s. Have even seen pics of them on the field caps of the day! Just a simple, fast answer. I am sure you will get a better detailed answer shortly. Welcome to the Forum!

yeah, looks like an older Staff SGT Patrol Cap Pin. could go on a helmet liner too, but i dont know if a lot of guys did that because the pins and dammits on the back make it stick out and such. its hard to see in the picture but is it screwback or pins with dammits?

That prety well describes it.Probobly Korean War era vintage and looks to the foreign made. These small ones with two screw posts were used on caps of all kinds. The metal chevrons used on helmet liners were larger and had one screw post. Check Emersons book "Chevrons", for more info.
