1SG_1st_Cav Posted February 1, 2013 Share #3 Posted February 1, 2013 Brush off the green Virdigris with an old tooth brush as much as possible. Then put a small amount of baking soda over the area. Then put several drops of white vinegar onto the area using an eye dropper. It will foam up and when it does, put some more drops of white vinegar onto the area. Let it dry our, then brush it with a clean paint brush or tooth brush. I use this on leather that has been effected by Virdrigis, especially old knife sheaths or holsters. 1SG_1st_Cav Posted February 4, 2013 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2013 My process works on metal as well. Most of the stuff I clean off is on snaps and rivets on knife sheaths. Danny
skautdog Posted February 26, 2013 Share #6 Posted February 26, 2013 Ren Wax Cleaner and Ren Wax work well. I use just a small dab and work carefully around the area using a soft toothpick or similar item covered in an old T shirt or other soft cloth. If the verdigris is on/in snaps I put a bit of Ren Wax in the snap and close it. That helps cover the interior of both snap pieces. Then the gently wiping off begins.
