JonG Posted March 3, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 3, 2008 Picked this up this weekend from a friend. Is it something that would be presented with a posthumous Purple Heart? There is no middle initial. The United States of America honors the memory of Joseph Sedlacek This certificate is awarded by a grateful nation in recognition of devoted and selfless consecration to the service of our county in the Armed Forces of the United States. Ronald Reagan President of the United States Thanks in advance for any assistance. Jon

KASTAUFFER Posted March 3, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 3, 2008 When any veteran passes away, one of those documents is mailed to the NOK . During WWII and Korea that type of document was only awarded to active duty servicemen who died while in the service. Since JFK, it is presented to the NOK of any deceased veteran. Proudgrandson Posted April 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted April 10, 2009 Where do you request them? We never received anything when my Dad passed away. They gave some paperwork to a few of my uncles at my Grandpa's funeral so they could get something from the president. I believe the guy from the VFW gave it to them, but I don't know if it came from him or he was just passing it on to them.
