hirsca Posted January 19, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2013 I've posted before on seeing O-3 bars that have Army/AF beveled edges, but with Navy/USMC cross pieces on the top and bottom edge. Manufacturer variation? Probably. Now I came across this set in a grouping that I acquired at the estate sale of an Army Vet. Nothing unusual on the front, but the nomenclature on the reverse has me wondering----had the Navy and Marine Corps started using this type of insignia back in 1883? Thanks, Al. patches Posted January 22, 2013 Share #6 Posted January 22, 2013 1883? you mean 1983 the nomenclature on the tag may be a catch all to describe the type worn by 0-3s in all the Brances of the Armed Forces, maybe, but not sure, if a Marine or Navy LT would wear these seemly Army/Air Force styles. Good catch patches! Fat finger typo. Somehow, I just don't see a Navy Lt, let alone a USMC Captain wearing Army style insignia. Is there any way to get a description of the stock number? I Googled it, but could not find anything. Thanks, Al.
