vietvet7071 Posted January 18, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2013 The canteen and belt were brought by a Marine friend of mine. He was in Kilo Company, 3/9 Marines in 1968. I believe at the Rock Pile.If you look at the top of the belt buckle, you'll see damage. That was caused by the bullet fired by my friend that killed the VC/NVA. My friend went on to become a Drill Sgt. and then an Embassy Guard at one of our Embassys in Africa.

Darktide Posted January 19, 2013 Share #3 Posted January 19, 2013 I have several of those Chinese belts in mint condition, always thought that they were post-Vietnam. They are quite easy to find in second-hand clothing stores in the Philippines where they sell for around US 2-3.00. I guess this type of belt was still being used by the Chinese military even way after Vietnam as the ones I have look so new. I looked at some of the ones that I have and noticed slight variations. Some have ink stamps at the back while others are stamped into the material of the belt at the front. different shades of brown as well, slight variations in the buckles.
