I know the basics, it would a Master-at-Arms badge and the crow is facing the correct direction for the period but the chevron colors are clearly incorrect. The seller described the colors as faded; my first thought was that it was a fake and I'd still have to assume the same but I figured I'd ask the professionals. I bought it under the assumption that it was fake and like it regardless, would just like opinions. Also, I've been in search of a book by John Stacey entitled "United States Navy Rating Badges and Marks 1833 to 2008". I understand that ASMIC sells it at a discount to members, they had it on ebay for a bit but it appears to have sold out. I'd like to purchase it, is there any way other than becoming a ASMIC member...I can't find it anywhere...or can I get it from ASMIC without paying for membership? Thanks in advance.
