Here is a photo of My Dad's Drill Instructor from 1965, from his Platoon book.

 

This picture always fascinated me as a kid when I used to look through the book, My dad said he was a Mean Marine but taught him what he needed to know to get through combat.

 

I wonder what happened to Sgt. K.R. Amos?

Bet you a beer it's Kenneth R Amos...

 

there's 2 on the ancestry logs...1 strictly WWII service, the other enlisted in 57...the rolls end in 58...

 

8 years later 1965...Sgt would be about the right rank and timeframe for a DI tour

 

BTW, he started with 7th Marines
