rams2050 Posted January 11, 2013 Author #34 Posted January 11, 2013 photo 29 this is a poorly-lit photo of the diorama of soldiers (seen below) marching across a war-torn landscape. the entire diorama raises during the actualy showing of a WW1 film, which may be viewed on the white screen to the rear of the diorama. Too much distance and not enough light caused the blurring.
trenchbuff Posted January 12, 2013 #35 Posted January 12, 2013 Thanks for the post and great photos. I've been to the museum several times. As a collector of WW1 items for over 40 years, I think it's a darn nice museum. Of course I'm just a hick from Montana.
rams2050 Posted January 12, 2013 Author #36 Posted January 12, 2013 The photos might have been better had I known, from the get-go, that they were allowed to be taken. As it was, I had to race around, while our friends were waiting, and revisit the sites that I then took photos of. I probably would have been able to figure out how to reduce the 'glare' had I had a little more time to tinker with the camera and its results. So, sorry for that, but I agree with trenchbuff -- I think it's pretty nice, as well. And I plan to return -- the displays rotate and so there will probably be new things to see the next time I'm there. I'm thinking that storing all of that other stuff takes up a lot of room, plus everything is climate-controlled for preservation and protected from fire and other hazards, so I am glad that as much memorabilia is able to be displayed as it is at one given time. I could have spent the day there and not really read everything that was out for visitors to see. Of course, my friends were antsy after an hour-and-a-half, so no way that all-day visit was happening, at least not on this occasion.
rams2050 Posted January 15, 2013 Author #37 Posted January 15, 2013 I didn't see the request at the top of the Museum, Battlefields, and Monuments forum until just now. So, here, belatedly, is the requested information: World War I Museum 100 W 26th St, Kansas City, Mo. (816) 784-1918 www.theworldwar.org/
knd643 Posted February 3, 2013 #38 Posted February 3, 2013 I love this museum. I went during last summer.
