teufelhunde.ret Posted March 1, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 1, 2008 Perhaps we should be listing some real Bakelite EGA's in this category
Brig Posted March 1, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted March 1, 2008 I agree. Insane!
Brian Keith Posted March 2, 2008 Share #4 Posted March 2, 2008 This is a classic "crossover" collectable. Two divergent groups of collectors wanting the same items so the value goes up. Bakelite jewelry has been a collectable for a long time. There is a lot of WW II era, military themed jewelry, it didn't require much war restricted material to make. Bob Hudson Posted March 2, 2008 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2008 This is at 126 and it's only been 2 hours! item 330216100285. this will be fun to watch I have sold a single Bakelite napkin ring for that much so it doesn't surprise me that a probably rare "novelty" Bakelite item would go for much more. teufelhunde.ret Posted March 2, 2008 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2008 Here is another... only $10 right now: http://cgi.ebay.com/Clear-Bakelite-USMC-Sw...1QQcmdZViewItem
Orgone Posted March 4, 2008 Share #7 Posted March 4, 2008 Here is another... only $10 right now: http://cgi.ebay.com/Clear-Bakelite-USMC-Sw...1QQcmdZViewItem There no such thing as clear or even transparent Bakelite, that's a Lucite ring. Also, Bakelite is either black, brown or wood toned, CATALIN is the brightly colored form of Bakelite!

teufelhunde.ret Posted May 15, 2008 Share #12 Posted May 15, 2008 Wonder if this one will go overboard too? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=
Bob Hudson Posted May 15, 2008 Share #13 Posted May 15, 2008 Wonder if this one will go overboard too? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=021 Maybe we need a new NOVELTY EGA section: these kinds of items are very interesting in their own right and, as evidenced by the one that begat this thread, worth a lot more than most "normal" EGA's. Brig Posted May 15, 2008 Author Share #14 Posted May 15, 2008 I think we can put them in the reference sweetheart section
Brig Posted February 13, 2016 Author Share #15 Posted February 13, 2016 Apparently the interest died since 2008. This is only the second one I've seen, first was the one that started this topic. Brought only $81 on eBay. Anchor appears to have been repaired
Mr.Jerry Posted February 14, 2016 Share #16 Posted February 14, 2016 repairs/breaks on Bakelite are like chips on Fiesta dinnerware, it really drops the value. But still a cool piece!
