My First Desert Battle Dress DBDU-First Issue '81 marked "Woodland"?

After years and years of ignoring DBDU uniforms at thrift stores, I finally picked up my first set, bought the jacket and pants within a week from each other from two different thrift stores for under $10.00. I'm actually hoping for a USMC set to start a complete 20th century USMC collection but for under $10 I'm happy I picked these up.

But I believe I might of lucked out on my first purchase as the contract date in 1981, roughly when the DBDU uniforms started being issued. What is also unusual is that it is marked "woodland" as the Camo type. How common for the tag to marked Woodland or was this how they marked when they first came out? The pants are marked '85.

Anyway glad to finally put one of these in my collection.

There are more than a few collectors that collect DS for a while now.

I'm not really, but many of the "modern" collectors have really rubbed off on me in terms of picking things up and appreciating it. I wouldn't put any big money in it for myself but I can spare $8.00 for set although I would prefer a USMC one.

It's been 20 years since DS and this uniform has been phased out for awhile just thought i'd finally pick one up.

The only modern set I'm considering collecting is Grenada as it's been 30 years thus year and it was a fascinating operation.

One reason why I posted this here is the odd tag that says Woodland and that it is one of the first that was manufactured. Just thought that was odd.
