VP_Association Posted December 30, 2012 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2012 The Shea Naval Aviation Museum, located at 495 Shea Memorial Drive on the Southfield development on former NAS South Weymouth, Massachusetts, will host a guest speaker on Saturday January 26th. The speaker, retired Navy Captain Robert "Barney" Rubel, is a former A-7 Corsair II and F/A-18 Hornet pilot who is presently the Dean of Surface Warfare Studies at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Mr. Rubel will present a lecture on the future of the aircraft carrier. The lecture will begin at noon and will last for about an hour. A question and answer session will follow. Please note that the Shea Naval Aviation Museum will also be open to the public between 9 and 11 AM on January 26th. The ANA Patriot Squadron, the local Association of Naval Aviation affiliate that operates the museum, will hold their monthly members' meeting from 11 to noon. The lecture will start at noon. The general public is welcome to visit the museum, sit in on the meeting, and attend the lecture. There is no charge to visit the museum or attend the lecture. The Shea Naval Aviation Museum is dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of NAS South Weymouth and its predecessor, NAS Squantum. New members and donations of memorabilia are always welcome. The museum is open between 9 and 11 AM on the last Saturday of the month and we try to have guest speakers on naval subjects during January, April, and August.
