coolhandluke Posted December 25, 2012 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2012 I have located the pin in the photos below for sale on eBay. The seller has the pin advertised as an original WWII era lapel pin. I am not well versed in this type of item, but would like to add one or two to my small 96th collection as my great grandfather served in the 96th Division as a part of the 382nd Regiment, Company C. Original 96th items seem to be hard to come by so I try to pick them up if they are affordable. Can anyone tell me if this pin would have seen use in uniform dress, or is this a post war piece that was made available to veterans of the 96th division? firefighter Posted December 26, 2012 Share #2 Posted December 26, 2012 I think these are just post-war? They made these with different division insignia's.Never seen a 96th before.I have a 101st and a few other ones.Cool!! I think these were just for civilian clothing to show your unit? patches Posted December 26, 2012 Share #3 Posted December 26, 2012 A post war lapel badge for the civilan mens suit jacket, probably one of many varients, a reunion or vets piece.
coolhandluke Posted December 26, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted December 26, 2012 Thank you both. I was assuming that it was a post war veterans piece. I went ahead and purchased one anyway since they were only $12 shipped and I have not seen another example before.

Sure no problems there, it looks like a nice period 40s-50s vet piece, a welcome addition to add to your great grandfather's stuff for his WWII service in the Deadeye Division.
