Rifle Training Device and Unknown Strange Item

I found these in a pile of militaria from an old surplus store (it was being thrown away). The first I recognize as the training device for watching a trainee sighting on an M-1 or M1903 but would like to know the proper nomenclature for it.

The second item is more confusing. It looks like a sling adapter for some type of weapon, perhaps a 1919. Does anybody recognize what it could be? Thanks

Fort:

The first item is an "aiming device". This one appears to be the aiming device for use with the M1 Garand rifle.

The second item appears to be the attaching iron for a shoulder stock to be affixed to a pistol. The iron piece is on the wooden shoulder stock. The iron piece is then slid into a slot cut into the back strap of the pistol where it locks into place forming a rigid attachment. A similar piece was used on the Mauser Broomhandle pistols, but other models of pistols have used similar devices to mount shoulder stocks. (The Inglis pistol comes to mind.) It is not USGI in my estimation.

Hope that helps you.

Here is a closeup of one such iron attachment seen on a Mauser shoulder stock. Photo was pulled off of Ebay.

Thank you for the idea. There was nothing in this collection of stuff that was not US, and the store closed in the early 1950's. There were lots of early WWII militaria items in the pile, including Army school instructor/student name badges! First time I'd ever seen them. I was wondering if this roller piece was like an item to carry a pistol/rifle/machine gun on a sling while mounted- similar to the US Civil War Carbine sling hook.
