craig_pickrall Posted February 27, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 27, 2008 This is a standard type of chevrons made during WW2.
kiaiokalewa Posted March 5, 2008 Share #4 Posted March 5, 2008 These are theatermade "in-country" chevrons used in the China, India and Burma Theatre. Yes they are standard ratings however they are not standard U.S. Govenment issue. I would keep them in the collection to illustrate CBI related insignia. vzemke Posted March 6, 2008 Share #5 Posted March 6, 2008 I'm going to have to agree with Craig that these are not theater made but are in fact one of the numerous different styles of US made chevrons worn during WWII. I have several khaki shirts with these EXACT chevrons on them that were worn by a man in the Western Defense Command who never went overseas. KurtA Posted March 6, 2008 Share #6 Posted March 6, 2008 I too believe they're US-made. While the rather "crude" style of manufacture might suggest being theater-made, the twill materials used for this chevron are something I associate with a U.S. manufacture. CBI made insignia tends to be finely embroidere/woven silk or cotton rather than cut out material. Kurt
