Kurt Barickman Posted April 26, 2023 Share #126 Posted April 26, 2023 Funny, I remember every so often when we were in the Persian Gulf in 1982-3, we would pull into Bahrain and pull up to a barge and we could take turns getting on the barge and drinking our two cans of beer; the price of a beer went up dramatically as guys were trying to buy other sailors beers. Salvage Sailor Posted April 26, 2023 Share #127 Posted April 26, 2023 While playing 'bumper ships' with Commie Krivaks & Intel Trawlers, we would pull alongside of them and blast them with rock and movie scores (the theme song to 'Patton' was the CO's favorite) and moon them, flash the Hawaiian 'good luck sign', etc. We also entertained them, producing the 'Gong Show At Sea' to show them what freedom is... Note the 'Gong' on the right That's a fellow OS2 playing my Ovation guitar & note the Standing Naval Forces Atlantic (STANAVFORLANT) shield Our Operations Officers as flashers Snipe, fresh from the hole & in the fresh air, a rare occurance Data Systems Tech magnetic tape Hula Dancer skirt, they were always 'Special' Ah, the Cold War, don'cha just miss it?
