Bowie Posted December 17, 2018 Share #1553 Posted December 17, 2018 Here is a closer pic of the stamp and writing on the inside collar of the first one. This one is a heavier weight material with 4 pockets on the front and 2 buttoned down tabs on either side of the back.
Bowie Posted December 17, 2018 Share #1554 Posted December 17, 2018 Here is the second one. Thanks! This one is a light weight material with 2 pocks on the front.
kammo-man Posted December 20, 2018 Share #1555 Posted December 20, 2018 what do you need to know ? They are tiger shirts.
Bowie Posted December 21, 2018 Share #1556 Posted December 21, 2018 Hey kammo-man, Thanks for the reply. I was wondering first what patterns they are, which based on my research I'm guessing the top would be considered tadpole dense, and the second is late war sparse? Secondly Id like to know if they're authentic or repro? After checking out the Tiger Patterns book, I was confused about the 4 pocket design with black buttons matching up to that pattern? Thanks! kammo-man Posted December 21, 2018 Share #1557 Posted December 21, 2018 They are both real and the black button one has the added pockets probably at a tailor shop. Low end tiger shirts price wise if you were asking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

kammo-man Posted December 21, 2018 Share #1559 Posted December 21, 2018 The 4 pocket is the better one.
Bowie Posted December 21, 2018 Share #1560 Posted December 21, 2018 kammo-man, You mention the extra pockets possibly being added on at a tailor shop. Upon closer inspection there's 2 different threads going on throughout the piece, black and green, but all the material looks consistent as if the whole thing was made in one shot. Is it possible the original owner went into a tailor shop that was making tadpole dense pieces with the corresponding black buttons and asked for a custom jacket with 4 pockets and tabs on the back as opposed to just picking up the standard one? kammo-man Posted December 21, 2018 Share #1561 Posted December 21, 2018 I don’t know what tadpoles dense is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted December 21, 2018 Share #1562 Posted December 21, 2018 I don’t know what tadpoles dense is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk its a high concentration of frog larva, for example: this water is tadpole dense
Soar Posted December 22, 2018 Share #1564 Posted December 22, 2018 @Bowie there are many collectors here do not use Richard Johnson's made up names. Not sure if you are new to the forum, but a read through the two Tiger Stripe threads will tell you pretty much all you need to know. I like your 4 pocket jacket. Very nice. kammo-man Posted December 23, 2018 Share #1565 Posted December 23, 2018 I was at a civilian vintage show last month in Los Angeles and ran into this mint set of 69 dated Vietnamese marine pattern. Took it home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kammo-man Posted December 23, 2018 Share #1566 Posted December 23, 2018 Interesting that the stamp is upside down as the viets were usually tight about things like that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Scott Posted March 31, 2019 Share #1570 Posted March 31, 2019 I hope I'm not getting off topic by posting this here, but here is a modern example of Tiger Stripe used by a US Army unit. The 1st Battalion, 509th Infantry (Airborne) serves as the Opposing Forces (OPFOR) at the Army's Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC). They contracted to have a modern Tiger Stripe uniform sewn up specifically for an unconventional unit that the 1-509th replicates in the training scenario. It was done with "Tiger Stripe Products" brand material and sewn by a US government contractor in the same layout as the modern Army OCP uniform.

vintageproductions Posted April 3, 2019 Share #1575 Posted April 3, 2019 Here is one we have had for awhile but finally got around to taking photos. It belonged to a Navy Corpsman attached to the Marine advisory element in the Rung Sat area.
