kammo-man Posted July 20, 2018 Share #1526 Posted July 20, 2018 Remember the tiger would have been Fitted for a Movie star fit. The body was slimmed in. The arms shortened and taken in. The collar is over sized 70s style and has collar stays sewn in for a perfect camera ready crisp look. This could have been an on set fitting hence the rough sewing and shows production did not have an overlock machine. Actors are fickle and vain and actually have a say in how they want to appear on camera. HK is no different as my friend who dressed him has expressed to me. Please remember the camera only sees thats in front of it. NOT whats hidden.
Soar Posted July 21, 2018 Share #1527 Posted July 21, 2018 @owen you got that lime green tiger flight suit? That's a special piece. Is it a locally printed fabric or a colour variation on classic Japanese? Also, still want to see a proper picture of the monster pattern suit - is it a flight suit, or a two piece uniform with zip pockets. cna't tell from the pic. And finally, Harvey Keitel would have given Apocalypse Now an extra edge. I always thought that Martin Sheen seemed somewhat mis-cast in the role.
kammo-man Posted July 21, 2018 Share #1528 Posted July 21, 2018 s Good to see your still in the game. To answer your question about the tiger suit it feels Japanese made The quality is top notch as is the print. Super lime color I haven’t seen really any of this print ever but somewhere in this thread is a classic cut early shirt in the same cloth. The flight suit is no doubt tailor made All the zips feel like they were taken of a k2-b mint flight suit. It’s stunning in the flesh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kammo-man Posted July 21, 2018 Share #1529 Posted July 21, 2018 I have a monster flight suit and the 2 piece suit Both same print except different colors one vertical One horizontal It’s a very hard print to source If you look on the indo China sold section yiu will see a pair of pants in the flight suit print., and recently vintage productions found a pair I have yet to see a shirt in this bright print, but one will turn up some day. The dull print was made famous on the cover of the Vietnam magazine and to date only a couple of pics have turned up. A lot of cowboy hats have been misidentified as monster but they are not Here’s a refresher couple of pics as it’s a cousin of tiger they are worth seeing Flight suit 2 piece suit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Soar Posted July 21, 2018 Share #1531 Posted July 21, 2018 Very nice, Owen. Thanks for sharing. Yes, still in the game. Been setting up a new business so 'tiger' budgets are some what depleted. But I did score another tiger shirt like your Jenkins suit - the patrol cap fabric.

kammo-man Posted July 26, 2018 Share #1537 Posted July 26, 2018 Ron , Cool suit. Typical you got what you got Tigers and you used them till they busted. He probably beyond trashed the pants in the field and chucked them. Remember its a 3 to 1 ratio in pants V shirt wear out. owen
Mike Force Posted July 26, 2018 Share #1538 Posted July 26, 2018 Fantastic stuff Owen! Thanks for sharing. That’s the shirt with the pattern like your flight suit. We talked about it somewhere years ago. I don’t remember where but it wasn’t in this thread I think? It’s much more faded but definitely the same pattern. There are no signs of any stamps but a Japanese factory made garment for sure. Wonder if this may was an early test run or just produced in small quantities parallel with the common classic cuts? kammo-man Posted July 26, 2018 Share #1540 Posted July 26, 2018 Thats the shirt. Would love to handle it ! My suit feels like its never been washed as the above has hit the water a few times. As we agreed its Japanese made and printed as the print is top notch. Possible test pattern.

MACSSOG Posted August 10, 2018 Share #1542 Posted August 10, 2018 Hi all, are there any current tiger-stripe manufacturers who produce good quality reproductions of the early 60s, brushed cotton type shirts black, green on almost a light grey base fabric? I've worked my way through every supplier I can think of but only find relatively thick and stiff cotton fabrics used producing gold or tadpole printed on tan or OD. Thanks very much.
