I was rearranging my shop clutter this week and found a pair of these. They have a laundry mark stamped in them, but don't look like they had much wear.

Thanks, Bob. Those shorts were not mine (my laundry mark was P-1334). Does your specimen have front pockets made of nylon mesh material...supposedly cooler than the ordinary cotton material used in long khakis...? That feature would be worth showing to the Forum.

Patches asked me to cross-post a few images from the patch thread.  They seem to have been all the rage at Fort Wolters, TX in the 1950s.  Here's a sampling from The Portal to Texas History.

This is a picture I posted a few years ago. No ID as to location nor date. Color guard carry US flag and other shows part of US Army title on it. I would think that this uniform might have been special to the unit and its station. French-like short shorts and black socks with low quarter shoes. Note that following troops are in same dress.

Incredibly interesting, these uniforms are not the 1956 type at all, note the shirts on them all, they are simply truncated M1946 long sleeve shirts, and the shorts to without a doubt as they are shorter (Who Wears Short Shorts 546202647_emoticonlaugh.png.0c68ab372c1bafd9a47d3c1de3e3c6d1.png) (that's a 1957 Rock n Roll song 546202647_emoticonlaugh.png.0c68ab372c1bafd9a47d3c1de3e3c6d1.png)

One guy seems to be the only one with a shoulder patch, 1st rank, our left their right, looks like CONARC when I zoom in, while only one guy seems to be wearing stripes, again 1st rank , our right their left, the one with the glasses, he's wearing the M1951 OD on  Blue Sergeant Stripes no luck though in seeing what the insignia is on the helmet liners.

A find, a kind of Promo sort of a photo of a unnamed Sergeant First Class wearing the type, maybe in 1956, and with the Khaki garrison Cap,

Once again the stripes he's wearing could very well be the Silver on Black WWII types, which seen use throughout the 50s after 1951 along side all the other WWII types and the new OD on Blue ones.

Found the full photo that member Wailuna posted link to on the previous page, link no longer working, the one in the center is a French Officer, his abbreviated uniform is patently different from the U.S, to the wearing of White Knee Socks.

The only thing that could make this netter is if they were wearing flip flops with those socks squishing up between their toes. 😂
