Johan Willaert Posted November 25, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2012 Were MPs in WW2 equipped with handcuffs and if so, which type? If not when were they introduced? The type below, consisting of a double handed chain is often seen in European museums as having been used by WW2 US Army MPs but I'm still looking to see that confirmed... Thanks Johan
Terry K. Posted November 25, 2012 Share #2 Posted November 25, 2012 Hi Johan, We always called those come-alongs. I had regular cuffs as a chaser, but do not think they were marked, but I really do not remember. I did pick up a WW2 set from the wife of a vet that done MP work and they were regular ones also, but with a longer chain. We will have to see what others with more knowledge than I have say. Johan Willaert Posted November 25, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted November 25, 2012 We always called those come-alongs. Thanks Terry! Yes, that would be a better descriptive term.... Seems these were not uncommon within the German (Military and Secret) Police...
e19 Posted October 3, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2021 These were my grandfather’s. He was a police officer in Jersey City, NJ in the early 19 hundreds.. He called them Nippers.
Rhscott Posted October 4, 2021 Share #5 Posted October 4, 2021 “Used by MPs” is a mighty broad swipe. Individual? Squad? Platoon? Every MP in England?
