This antique barn I go to has a metal pack saddle the owner said he thought was from WWI. I've never seen one so I have no idea. I didn't look to good for markings but will next time I go. I was wondering if anyone has one or has pictures of one I could use for reference? Would it even be army issue or did they use civilian?

The Army used the M1924 Phillips Pack Saddle into the 1950's. There are something like 11 variations in sizes, but they all look alike. Here are 2 of my 3 Phillips saddles. The one on the horse is a Cavarly model, and the one on the floor is the Cargo model. There are a lot of foriegn pack saddles around. Many are Swiss.
