HattonWWII Posted November 20, 2012 #1 Posted November 20, 2012 Here is my tanker helmet well used with goggles. Beautiful piece. All comment appreciated
glenm Posted November 20, 2012 #6 Posted November 20, 2012 A spot of Pecards leather dressing will probably do the dry leatherwork on this (and on your M1 liner sweatbands and liner chinstraps) the world of good. Nice helmet and goggles though! Cheers, Glen.
Sabrejet Posted November 20, 2012 #7 Posted November 20, 2012 Nice helmet which would benefit from the addition of a pair of R14 receivers and their "Y" loom.
sgtdorango Posted November 20, 2012 #8 Posted November 20, 2012 She's a beauty and those goggles are a very nice finishing touch, hard to find them with nice clear lenses and good rubber!.......mike
HattonWWII Posted November 20, 2012 Author #9 Posted November 20, 2012 Thank you for your compliments! How could i get receivers? Thank you
Sabrejet Posted November 20, 2012 #10 Posted November 20, 2012 Thank you for your compliments! How could i get receivers? Thank you Try this dealer. The AAF used the same basic set up. He often has some in stock. http://www.bellsaviation.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=BA&Category_Code=FHP
1canpara Posted November 20, 2012 #11 Posted November 20, 2012 That's a beauty! Those are nice goggles too! Like Mike said, they're hard to find without scratched up, crazed lenses. You can find the R-14 earpieces on eBay quite often, usually around $40-50 without the Y loom. Thanks for posting, Rick
Sabrejet Posted November 20, 2012 #12 Posted November 20, 2012 The complete set would look like this. The receivers are held down by the spring clips and the "Y" loom and jack feed out the back. The throat mic and switch box are optional extras for display.
LarryM3 Posted November 20, 2012 #13 Posted November 20, 2012 Very nice used example of the Rawlings Pattern tank helmet and exceptionally nice set of M1938 Goggles. Like Mike said, it is very hard to find these goggles with nice clear lenses as they tend to delaminate over time. It is also harder to find good used Rawlings Pattern tanks helmets than it is to find un-issued examples so you have a very good set there. Larry
USMC-RECON0321 Posted November 20, 2012 #15 Posted November 20, 2012 I agree, a very nice set you have there!! Congrats Troy
gitana Posted November 20, 2012 #16 Posted November 20, 2012 Thank you for your compliments! How could i get receivers? Thank you I've been looking for a real HS-18 headset for a while and there is a seller on ebay who must have unearthed a stash because he's selling them off one at a time. I bought one and already have it - it's totally legit - even in the original box! Good price too, but they're going up each time! Keep an eye on the seller, I hope he'll have more. These are the ones you want for the tank helmet, and they are NOT easy to find anymore. ebay listing
strawberry 9 Posted November 20, 2012 #17 Posted November 20, 2012 Great tanker helmet! Here's a question, at the moment I have a set of ANB-H-1 receivers in my tanker helmet for display. Would these ever have been used in a tanker helmet?
HattonWWII Posted November 21, 2012 Author #18 Posted November 21, 2012 Thank you for your help gitana, and sorry strawberry 9 but idk about that one
gitana Posted November 21, 2012 #19 Posted November 21, 2012 Great tanker helmet! Here's a question, at the moment I have a set of ANB-H-1 receivers in my tanker helmet for display. Would these ever have been used in a tanker helmet? Yes. But the HS-18 headset with R-14 receivers were used earlier and were probably more prevalent. Read this for all related questions.
Jeeper704 Posted November 21, 2012 #20 Posted November 21, 2012 A very nice "Sears Saddlery" tanker helmet and even nicer pair of goggles. Erwin
M24 Chaffee Posted November 22, 2012 #21 Posted November 22, 2012 Very nice Tanker helmet and goggles! I recently bought R-14 receivers and a T-30 throat mic from Bells Aviation (the link that Saberjet provided). They look great on my tanker. If you ask them they may take a couple dollars off the price. Frank
M24 Chaffee Posted November 22, 2012 #22 Posted November 22, 2012 Also, this is a great source of information for Tanker helmets and related gear http://www.big-red-one.org/M1938%20TANK%20HELMET%20INFO%20PAGE.htm
HattonWWII Posted December 30, 2012 Author #23 Posted December 30, 2012 How did you get the R14s in the Tanker Helmet? I recently purchased a set
