Tom Dinackus Posted November 12, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2012 I'm working on a 1/35 scale diorama and I am having a hard time getting the right color for concrete. When I look at real concrete, it looks like it is just off-white, with some tan and maybe a little gray in it. I haven't found a paint that replicates this color, and my attempts to mix the right color have not worked. I prefer acrylics, and generally use Vallejo. Any suggestions? Thanks. strawberry 9 Posted November 12, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2012 Are you using an airbrush? I think the trick would be to do it in layers.
bheskett Posted November 13, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 13, 2012 I am not a modelling guy but could you mix some accual quickcrete very thin and paint that on? Not trying to be a smart alek but would that give you the color and texture you want? I don't know if it would damage your paint equipment just a thought. Tom Dinackus Posted November 13, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted November 13, 2012 Unfortunately, I am strictly a brush guy.
strawberry 9 Posted November 13, 2012 Share #8 Posted November 13, 2012 You could also but down a base color and then dry brush that base with a few colors of pastels. That would help you get the color as well as add texture and a weathered look. Maybe a light grey/white base brushed with some tan, white, black, and darker grey?
