USMCR79 Posted February 19, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2008 A friend of mine who served at 8th & I in the late 1950's told me about this site. http://www.8thandi.com/ There is a great story about the facility NCOIC M/Sgt "Pop" Sterling who was told to show up for inspection in Dress Blues.....The only ones he had dated to 1919 (this was 1959) when he enlisted. He showed up in his old blues with his 1919 Haiti Campaign Medal....somewhat disheveled among the squared away young Marines. Bill
Charlie Flick Posted February 19, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2008 That is a neat site, Bill. It is interesting to me because my nephew is stationed at 8th and I right now. Lots of history there. Thanks for the post. Charlie Flick
