Additional items to use for k/c rations?

Hi,

 

I've heard that there were different additions in k/c rations, mainly candy, that were used besides the average 2oz d ration, tropical, fruit and ceral bars. From what I've heard and read there were among other things charms, life savers, M&Ms and even a York chocolate bar? Does anyone know of anything else that was also added and wiether theres physical evadence of these being used in the rations?

I have never seen the above items you have mentioned in a K ration, though one item I can think of off hand that was in certain k rations were packages of caramels, I think there were 5 in the pack, some were cellophane wrapped.

 

I'll try and post pics later, if I can find where they are.

Charms were in survival packs, and possibly included in some of the large scale rations (i.e. NOT C/K) which were really pretty standard througthout the war without many big changes.

^{As for C rations, it depends on time period, they experiemented with chocolate raisins, and different beverages like grape juice for example... I just stick with 1942 spec, can't go wrong}
